Julian Friedrich was born in 1979 in Vienna, Austria. After finishing the technical college for Communications Engineering at the HTL Schellinggasse, he worked several years as salesman and floor manager before finished the civilian service. Soon afterwards he achieved the necessary pre-study exams to study Mechatronic/Robotik at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien, where he obtained his BSc degree in 2008.

Afterwards, he attended the Master Program in Embedded Systems at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien. Additionally, he supported the Research Group Embedded Systems (DECS Project) as a part-time employee. Julian Friedrich left the DECS project team in 2009.
