Prototyping and Demonstrator: Project Debugging of Real-Time Systems
The demonstrator which is designed within the scope of the Debugging of Real-Time Systems project and other related projects in our department will show as an example the task of debugging and testing in distributed real-time system. It consists of an array of inverted pendulum setups which are controlled by nodes implementing the distributed debugging extensions creating during the run of the research project. The nodes communicate via Ethernet and clock synchronization and debug messaging is performed on layer 2 removing any unnecessary messaging overhead The nodes are connected via a transparent clock synchronization switch (provided by the company Oregano Systems - Design and Consulting) which allows a synchronization to an extent of less than 10ns.
In the search for a solution for the diagnosis of an real-life automotive real-time system, a prototyping platform for evaluation has been built.
The cooperation with the company Siemens VDO (now Continental Corporation) helped to enhance the quality of the department's teaching efforts with supporting the creation of two showcases for automotive electronics.
