Automotive Demonstrator

The automotive demonstrator which is designed for the automotive gateway project and other related projects in our department demonstrates the applicability of the automotive gateway in real-world environments. It implements not only the gateway node but also several commercial network components. Currently, the demonstrator consists of a gas pedal, a brake pedal, a steering wheel, several servos, lights, a model car and a dash board. Three network systems (FlexRay, CAN and LIN) are in use. While FlexRay is used for the safety-critical parts of the demonstrator (gas and brake pedals, steering wheel, ...) low-cost bus systems like CAN and LIN connect the components where no real-time constraints exist.

The automotive demonstrator is used for research projects, exhibitions and by the students in related courses and labs.
