Simon Schwaiger graduated from BG & Sport RG HIB Saalfelden in 2015. Following his completion of civil service, he enrolled at UAS Technikum, earning a BSc in Mechatronics and Robotics in 2020 and an MSc in Embedded Systems in 2022. Since 2020, he has been employed by UAS Technikum's competence centre for digital manufacturing, automation, and robotics. In addition to teaching, he contributed to two publicly funded research projects: AIAV and UGV-ABC-Probe.
MA23 project AIAV aims to develop openly accessible teaching materials on artificial intelligence for industrial and educational users. Concurrently, Simon was involved in the FORTE project UGV-ABC-Probe with the goal of improving a prototype unmanned ground vehicle for search and rescue applications.
His primary research interests revolve around control algorithms for autonomous mobile robots. Proficient in both traditional machine learning and recent deep learning approaches, he primarily focuses on developing algorithms for the mapping and planning stages of autonomous robot control pipelines.
Since February 2024, he has been part of the project Stadt Wien Kompetenzteam für Drohnentechnik in der Fachhochschulausbildung, dedicated to integrating uncrewed ground and air vehicles into UAS Technikum's study programs.
