Dr. Wilfried Kubinger graduated from the Technical University of Vienna with a doctorate in technical sciences in 1999. From 1996 to 2000 he was research and university assistant at Institute for Flexible Automation at Vienna University of Technology. His main focus was real-time control of industrial and service robots as well as machine vision systems. From 2000 to 2003 he worked as software developer and development project manager at Siemens Austria. There he was responsible for the development of software and firmware for telecommunications products and factory test devices. From 2003 to 2010 he worked with "Safe and Autonomous Systems" business unit at AIT Austrian Institute of Technology in Vienna, where he initiated and managed various research projects. Mr. Kubinger was a member of the SciAutonics / Auburn Engineering team and was involved in both the DARPA Grand Challenge and the DARPA Urban Challenge as a project manager and principal scientist for the topic of "Reliable obstacle detection using stereo vision sensors for autonomous vehicles". Since 2009 Mr. Kubinger initially worked at UAS Technikum Wien as a program director for the bachelor and master's degree programs in mechatronics / robotics. Since 2018 he headed the "Automation & Sensor Technology" competence field and was responsible for the "Automation & Robotics" research field. Since 2020 he heads the Department for Electronic Engineering at the UAS Technikum Wien. In addition to his teaching and management activities, Mr. Kubinger is also still very active in the acquisition and implementation of R&D projects. He is also actively involved in voluntary functions in various engineering associations. Dr. Wilfried Kubinger is member of OVE and senior member of IEEE.
