Ekaterina Ewers was born in July 1987. After finishing high school she took a gap year to work as a web developer at SyTech, developing software with web-based interfaces for various government agencies.

During 2005-2010 she studied Russian Philology at Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, specializing in teaching Russian as a foreign language. During the same period she worked as a freelance translator and proofreader (working languages: Russian, English).

In November 2008 she joined Hewlett-Packard as part of the CEE Software Operations & Revenue Recognition team and in November 2010 was promoted to the position of a team leader which she held until June 2012.

Between August 2013 and June 2015 she was employed at Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region (VOR) as a junior expert responsible for quality assurance and data maintenance of Graph Integration Platform (GIP).

She started her undergraduate studies in Computer Science at UAS Technikum Wien in 2013 and in July 2015 joined the Research Group Embedded Systems where she was a member of the DIScoVER project.

Ekaterina's further area of focus is project management. She is a Certified Scrum Product Owner and a member of the Scrum Alliance and PMI.

Ekaterina Ewers left the university in 2018.
