Peter Balog was born in 1962 in Vienna, Austria. He studied Electronic Communication Engineering at the Vienna University of Technology and graduated in 1987. After 5 years as assistant professor at the Institute of Computer Technology at the Vienna University of Technology, where he focussed on digital design, computer architectures and operating systems he was appointed to a professorship at the Electronic Department of the Technical College TGM Vienna, where he was teaching courses on several subjects in the fields of digital and embedded systems hardware and software design. In addition he worked as a consultant for computer communication networks. In 1994 he started as a visiting lecturer at the newly founded University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien (Fachhochschule Technikum Wien), teaching courses on the subject of digital system design in the Electronic degree program. In 1999 he joined the faculty staff of UAS Technikum Wien where he established the Research Group Embedded Systems. From 2000 until 2018 he developed several diploma, bachelor and master programs and was director of the bachelor program Information and Communication Systems and Services as well as director of the master program Embedded Systems. From 2018 until 2019 he was both head of the Department of Electronic Engineering and head of the Research Group Embedded Systems. Peter Balog left the university in 2021.
