Florian Wimmer was born in 1997 and grew up in Ziersdorf (Lower Austria). He graduated from HTL Hollabrunn in Electronics and Technical Informatics in 2017. After 15 months of military service at the Military Band of the Austrian Honor Guards, he enrolled in the Bachelor Biomedical Engineering at UAS Technikum Wien, focusing on Medical & Hospital Engineering, which he completed in 2021. Currently, he is enrolled in the Master's program in Biomedical Engineering at TU Wien, with a focus on Biomedical Signals & Instrumentation.

During the winter term of 2023/2024, he participated in a study exchange semester at the Master's program in Automatic Control and Robotics at the School of Industrial Engineering of Barcelona (ETSEIB) - UPC. Until 2023, Florian worked for 2.5 years at the Medical University of Vienna as a researcher, investigating ventricular flow dynamics in relation to Left Ventricular Assisted Devices (LVADs) and (artificial) mitral valves.

Since 2024, he has been a Junior Lecturer/Researcher at UAS Technikum Wien within the Embedded Systems Research Group where he is part of the DrohnFH competence team, dedicated to integrating uncrewed ground and air vehicles into UAS Technikum's study programs.
