Jul 22, 2009 - Department of Embedded Systems participates at the SIES 2009

The Department of Embedded Systems has presented results from the FHplus project DECS (Design Methods for Embedded Control Systems) at the IEEE Symposium on Industrial Embedded Systems (SIES) which took place at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland, from July 8 to 10, 2009. The aim of the SIES is to bring together researchers and practitioners from industry and academia and provide them with a platform to report on recent developments, deployments, technology trends and research results, as well as initiatives related to embedded systems and their applications in a variety of industrial environments. The SIES 2009 had participants from all around the world. Two papers from our department have been accepted by the reviewing committee for presentation and publishing in the conference proceedings.

Jun 15, 2009 - Department of Embedded Systems supports GMS as member of the advisory board

Recently, a new Austrian society for microelectronic systems called GMS (Gesellschaft für Mikroelektronische Systeme) was founded at the Graz University of Technology. The main objectives of the GMS are to foster cooperations between academia and industry, to assist young engineers in their career as well as to promote the communication between national and international experts working in the field of microelectronic systems. The Department of Embedded Systems is pleased to support the GMS as member of the advisory board.

Apr 22, 2009 - Patent granted to the Department of Embedded Systems

Since several years the Department of Embedded Systems works in the area of test and diagnosis of embedded system, for example, in context to the R&D projects DECS (Design Methods for Embedded Control Systems), Debugging of Real-Time Systems or the Competence Team for Test and Verification of Dependable Systems.

Recently, a team of researchers at the Department developed a new solution which enables coordinated test, debugging and diagnosis in distributed embedded systems. The invention was submitted to the Austrian Patent Office in 2008. Meanwhile, a patent was granted by the patent office under the file number AT505630. The patent (full text) is available via the website of the European Patent Agency (enter "AT505630" in the search mask).

Currently, a prototype system based on FPGAs (Field-programmable Gate Arrays) and a 90 nm ASIC is implemented in the R&D project COORDES.
